0-10V Dimmer Switch for 1-10V Dimmable LED,Single-Pole Solide,UL Listed

Installing this switch is simple if you already have a dimmer control wire installed. The switch has an adjustment wheel (to be concealed by a user-provided standard Decora switch plate) which allow you to determine how low the dimming will go. Old triac lamp dimmers you always have to fiddle to find the dimmest mode, and they are also very susceptible to power fluctuations such as a refrigerator starting up, causing them to inexplicably brighten or dim. This switch uses the 0-10V separate dimming wire for compatible LED lights, and I haven’t noticed any such problems. The real challenge is adding another wire to each light controlled by the dimmer. I installed it in an unfinished basement, so it didn’t involve drywall or removing paneling. The 0-10v dimming wire carries only negligible current and is low voltage, so doesn’t require thick or high voltage wiring. Not all new lights have the extra wires for remote dimming, so make sure to use compatible lights. The switch operates just as an on/off, and the dimming wire tells the lights what brightness is desired. So, one could set it up with multiple lights which turn on, but only some dim with the slider …It appears that the switch is rated for 6 amps, so can switch up to 720 watts of lights. The dimmer could adjust lights not powered through the switch though, for unlimited lighting control. With high power LEDs becoming so affordable these days, it can become easy to saturate an area with more light than really needed, and result in excessive power costs and heating. With this switch I was able to dim some LED panel lights down from 167 to 9 watts, or 5%. Before I had been using them on low power on their switch, but I needed to reach up and turn each up to high if I needed more light. Having this slider switch controlling them together makes them much easier to tame or use fully. Adding more 0-10V lights in the future will be easy now.The wires on the back of the dimmer are stranded, and wire nuts are included. The switch has the option to operate with another 3 way switch so multiple switches can control the same lights. I don’t plan on using this feature. The switch is UL listed.I couldn’t detect any backlighting or indicator lights on the switch while off or on.I’ve very happy with this dimmer switch, unlocking the potential of some dimmable lights I’ve acquired. Installation can be a little daunting with the additional wiring needed, but the fine control of power and lighting is great!
